“Down” – Vim
Vim are a four-piece from Melbourne, Australia. “Down” is off their debut EP Ukiyo, which they released back in December. Their sound is perfect for fans of dream pop and shoegaze, similar to bands like Slowdive, Beach Fossils, and Alvvays.
“Sunk” – Operator Music Band
“Sunk” is a track off of Operator Music Band’s latest EP, Coördination. This Brooklyn-based artpop group experiments with synths and other instruments to create a funky sound, similar to bands like LCD Soundsystem and Kraftwerk.
“Walking Distance” – The Green Child
The Green Child is the project of Raven Mahon (Grass Widow) and Mikey Young (Total Control). They released their debut self-titled LP in January on Upset the Rhythm, and “Walking Distance” is a synth heavy, cold wave track off of the album. For fans of Broadcast and Suicide.
“Shatter” – Cherry Blaster
Toronto’s Cherry Blaster is the project of Iulia Ciobanu. Her debut record Sleep Depraved came out in September of last year and “Shatter” is a standout track. Ciobanu creates electro-pop music that fans of Purity Ring and Grimes will love.
“Comatose” – Low Hum
“Comatose” is a song off Low Hum’s latest self-titled EP, which came out in late February. LA-based Collin Desha creates music that is described as “aggressive psych jammers balanced with a range of vulnerability.” Low Hum’s emotional blend of sounds is ideal for fans of both Elliott Smith and Tame Impala.
