Wooing – “Tear World”
Wooing is a three-piece based in NYC. “Tear World” is off their debut EP Daydream Time Machine, which, according to the band, was “inspired by a documentary on LSD experiments performed on housewives in the 1950s.” Wooing’s sound has elements of both 60’s psych rock and 90’s grunge, ideal for fans of bands like Helium and Superchunk.
Socks – “Emily”
Socks is an indie/surf rock band from Modesto, CA. “Emily” is a song featured on their debut LP It Is What It Is, which was released last month. Socks’ music has vibes similar to artists like Cherry Glazerr and Hop Along.
The Guests – “Sick of It All”
Philadelphia-based The Guests are a self-proclaimed “communist rock band” and feature members of Sheer Mag. “Sick of It All” comes off the band’s 2017 album Red Scare, but they just recently released a new record, Popular Music, available on Bandcamp. The Guests create music that fans of post-punk and darkwave will love, with sounds similar to Bauhaus and Dead Can Dance.
Water From Your Eyes – “Saw Them Lie”
“Saw Them Lie” is a track off Water From Your Eyes’ latest record, All A Dance, released by Exploding in Sound. This duo from New York creates synth pop music that makes you want to dance. For fans of Little Dragon and Toro y Moi.
Ex-Pat – “The Weight of a Thousand Suns”
Buffalo’s Ex-Pat creates lo-fi, dream pop reminiscent of 1960’s crooner pop. His latest album, Does Life, was released this past November and includes “The Weight of a Thousand Suns.” For fans of Ariel Pink and Alabama Shakes.
