JUILLIARD-TRAINED PERFORMER TRANSFORMS BROADWAY CLASSIC INTO CUTTING-EDGE ELECTRONICA WITH SECOND SINGLE FROM "BEATS ON BROADWAY" PROJECT
NEW YORK, NY | May 22, 2025: Actor and singer Valerie Geffner releases “Not a Day Goes By,” the second single from her anticipated “Beats on Broadway” album, transforming Stephen Sondheim’s powerful ballad from “Merrily We Roll Along” into a haunting electro-pop experience.
In this bold reimagining, Geffner captures the emotional intensity of the original Broadway classic, where the character Beth confesses her undying love despite heartbreak. The innovative arrangement, created in collaboration with longtime producer David Sisko, places the timeless melody within a contemporary soundscape while maintaining the emotional core that made it a Broadway staple.
“Beats on Broadway” represents Geffner’s vision of bringing theatrical classics into unexpected territory—crafting songs that would feel at home in a dimly lit hotel lounge or sophisticated cocktail bar. The project marries her theatrical background with modern production techniques, resulting in a sound that honors Broadway traditions while pushing boundaries.
“We wanted to create something that theater lovers would recognize, but that would also appeal to audiences who might never set foot in a Broadway theater,” says Geffner. “These songs have timeless emotional resonance that deserves to be heard in new contexts.”
Geffner will be performing selections from the album live throughout summer 2025, with performances scheduled across New York City beginning in late May.
Produced, Mixed and mastered by longtime collaborator David Sisko and co-produced by Valerie Geffner. The innovative arrangement includes an electric violin by Akiva Wax that places the timeless melody within a contemporary soundscape while maintaining the emotional core that made it a Broadway staple.
