Bio:
Sulene left her home in South Africa as a starry-eyed teen to pursue music in the United States. Her story continued with graduation from Berklee College of Music, and a move to Brooklyn, New York to pursue a solo career. The move follows a multi-year career of recording and touring both nationally and internationally with progressive rock act Helicopria, whose most recent release Supergeist premiered at #1 on Bandcamp’s top selling rock albums. In tandem with the release of her solo pop-punk debut Holding Words Back, March 25, she is working alongside accomplished Manhattan-based composer Marcelo Zarvos on film and TV scores. Since the day Sulene committed herself to being a solo artist, her most prominent goal has been to empower her audience to harness one’s creative spirit, be resilient, and realize one’s infinite potential in this lifetime. She has gained strong support along the way with a flourishing YouTube channel, an endorsement from EMG Pickups and a recent win of the Bayside Cover Contest. Sulene’s incredible punk rock life story has only just begun.
Sulene Comments, “I was in a terrible relationship once, like most people will unfortunately experience in this lifetime. But, somewhere down the line I had a moment of clairvoyance and I wrote this baby EP that I’m so incredibly proud of. Out of the slums of self-doubt and turmoil came the most honest and soul baring plea to myself to let go, be a good girl, and trust fall. The following message is what this EP is here to deliver, it just took a bad boyfriend to help me put it into words. Holding Words Back is about speaking up for yourself, being true to who you are, and never settling for less than what you’re worth.”
