“Jewish Matchmaking”, the new dating reality show on Netflix that premiered in May this year features Stuart Chaseman who delights the world with a surprise comment eight and a half minutes into episode 7. The show host, Aleeza Ben Shalom, is a Jewish Matchmaker who flies all over the world to find a culturally diverse cast of single Jewish people their dream dates, and possible future spouses. She interviews Stuart with a question of “what qualities someone needs to have to be a good match for him” and he answers,
“I am not open-minded politically, they have to be totally tolerant of gay marriage, no racial stuff, pro-choice, any degree of intolerance towards the other way people live their lives and being judgmental is a deal breaker.” But then he quips, “Unless they’re hot.” Joking, of course, he becomes very serious and repeats, “But seriously, that’s a deal breaker.”
During this time when the LGBTQ and Jewish communities are facing challenges from all over the world, Stuart has been getting overwhelming amounts of love from people of all races and cultures for his firm position on accepting people’s own choices for how they choose to live their lives. After posting a short clip of the conversation with Aleeza about his perfect match to his Stuart Chaseman TikTok account, he went viral and gained over 400k views in a matter of days, but what really delighted him and others were the over 500 comments from well-wishers with support for his position on social justice issues.
