Megaheart is this burst of very particularly unabashed energy. It’s – in concept – about the particular moments that make your heart beat as fast as it can…
– Skye Meredith, RSR

NASHUA, NH // June 5, 2015 – In a release like no other, comes Rocket Ship Resort’s new EP Megaheart today with an exclusive stream via Highlight Magazine! Inspired by sweeping theatrics and catchy melodies, Megaheart takes you on a trip full of energy and emotion to take on the world. Two singles were premiered earlier this month on AltSounds and Under The Gun Review, displaying the versatility and energy of RSR’s sound – from the fiery passion of “Mistress Magic”  to the grounding and sweet earworm melodies of “Where We’ll Go”.

Skye Meredith, creator and powerhouse behind Rocket Ship Resort commented, “I’m a genderqueer LGBT individual making electotunes that deliberately weave scores of cloud-stirred ‘not real’ instruments into something a helluva lot more ‘real’ than anything else could be for myself… Do what makes your heart run, and then yell that from a megaphone on a skyscraper while you take on the world below. Megaheart is having more in your woah-feelings-heart than your for-reals-heart can handle.”

Rocket Ship Resort breaks barriers in music and life alike, pulling from a broad range of genres and inspiration. From a pop-punk foundation, elements of J-POP and electronic music blend with inspiration from video-game and anime worlds, working to achieve a larger-than-life listener experience. Rocket Ship Resort’s music, passion and image caught the attention of Yoshisha Hashimoto (director of SEGA) whose support encouraged Naoto Ohshima (creator of Sonic and NiGHTS) and Gashi-Gashi (Adventure Time) to create guest artwork which will be revealed shortly via Rocket Ship Resort’s Facebook.

Representing the energy and dreams of a lifetime, Megaheart  can be ordered here.

MEDIUM VERSION:

ようこそ WELCOME. Rocket Ship Resort cordially presents a skyscraping ride for the fire children, air rogues, and ass-waggin’ free of these hardened times. A blazing, 16-bit carnival of theatrical, electronic pop-punk, made of stratospheric fight scenes, piratical postcards, and starry-eyed nostalgia, Rocket Ship Resort is the woven embodiment of Skye Meredith of Nashua, New Hampshire, who does the singing, writing, playing, mixing, mastering, drawing… and general wearing of all hats.

Rocket Ship Resort’s catchy, hook-laden stories are larger-than-life, told as an eruption of anthem and self-actualization. Dancing weightless with a flower-bearing ghost, falling as a mere magician for a mistress of real spells, racing a ruthless captain for the power of the seven seas… it’s all what love feels like, ain’t it? The lyrics run a landscape gamut of darkness and light, all with a self-aware wink. The instrumentation is injected with the magic of classic video game hardware, and the album’s melodies cascade with digital sounds in punk rock form. Rounding it all out is RSR’s mascot – Avra – a wolflike spirit representing the heart of the music.

Rocket Ship Resort’s brand spankin’ new EP, Megaheart, unleashes a high-speed burst of unabashed fire. Heavy-hearted and personal through its themes of struggle, yet catchy, alive and kickin’ like never before, a beating summer-sun core begs its rebellious spirit to blast out as you conquer the world. With sky-high aspirations, arcade-like production, and surrounded with guest art by Naoto Ohshima (creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, NiGHTS), Gashi-Gashi (Adventure Time, Ken Ashcorp), Dream Forecast (and more), Megaheart will be available June 5th.

Let’s go for a ride, huh~?

In April of 2011 RSR put out Dream Catcher, an EP showcasing beginning steps – the song “Starlight Speedway” was picked up and made into a track on the Rock Band video game franchise. RSR’s second release rose from a successful crowdfunding campaign into You And Me & The Seven Seas, an airship story crossing the boundaries of life and death. Our Tales followed in 2014, lending the motorcycling, swashbuckling singles “Guiding Wind” and “Princess Red Rum” a growing emphasis on ear worm songwriting, gaining positive attention from the legendary Sonic sound team at SEGA, a major influence. The song “The Ghost Had A Bouquet” rose aloft that October, celebrating Halloween with love from beyond the grave.

Skye is hella genderqueer, and a fierce advocate for LGBT causes, rad human beings, and stupid-hot spicy food. He tours solo on a motorbike with his laptop, a cold cup of Dunkin Donuts, and a damn good time for the Fire Rogues of the evening.

Nashua, NH // May 22, 2015 – Rocket Ship Resort has paired up with Under The Gun Review to premiere the second single “Where We’ll Go” off their upcoming EP Megaheart, due out June 5th. In contrast to the playful, fiery passion of the first single “Mistress Magic” which premiered last week via AltSounds and is now streaming via Rocket Ship Resort’s pre-order page HERE.

“Where We’ll Go” lets creator Skye Meredith’s voice take center stage in silky smooth melodies, layered in an undeniably catchy chorus line . It embodies themes found throughout Megaheart, but remains a grounded, sweet and memorable song from start to finish. “I wanted to write a song that sounds like driving through beams of sunlight on a crisp Friday in June,” said Skye. “Those little moments with someone that come one after another out of nowhere, like a climbing daisy-chain of postcards with a killer twinkle. You don’t know where you two will go yet, but every little vacation-esque frame feels like you’re sure getting there. There was this girl I knew who would fish me out of a crappy day at 5 PM every evening, and each time we’d go on some new pheromone-laden adventure without a damn plan in our heads. This is about that.”

Nashua, NH // May 13, 2015 – Electronic pop-punk act Rocket Ship Resort has joined forces with our partners AltSounds to exclusively premiere their first single “Mistress Magic”! The single is off their upcoming EP Megaheart, slated to hit the streets on June 5th. Fluidly weaving smooth vocals over pop-punk melodies and electronic beats, Rocket Ship Resort hooks imagination and emotion with a fiery passion of unabashed energy.

“I wrote Mistress Magic to sound like a masterful showman with a thousand spotlights spinning in rhythm with the wind,” says creator Skye Meredith. “The song is about a magician, highly skilled in his practice, who falls in love with a girl who is truly made of magic. It’s kinda sexy, quite playful, very firey and maybe even a little Jackson-y if you’re keeping score.”

Pulling in elements from a broad range of genres and inspiration, Rocket Ship Resort breaks barriers blending pop-punk, J-POP and electronic elements including sounds and inspiration from video-games and anime; combined, it goes beyond music, creating a full user-experience.

“I wanted to write lyrics that vocalize the most powerful personal experiences I’ve had over the past few years,” said Skye, of Megaheart as a whole. “Homelessness, hopeless romantic-ness, fighting the gender paradigm, buckling under loss – all under the lens of stories I wanna tell with a grin as they go. I’ve never worked harder on the instruments and production in my life, and I set out to make melodies that make you wanna throw a fist in the air and a fuck yeah! from the rooftops… and listen to for a long time, picking out new subtleties, movements, and sounds each time around.”

Rocket Ship Resort’s music, passion and image have been capturing the likes of industry leaders, including Yoshisha Hashimoto (director of SEGA) whose support encouraged Naoto Ohshima (creator of Sonic and NiGHTS) and Gashi-Gashi (Adventure Time) to create guest artwork. If you like what you hear, you can now pre-order Megaheart [here] which comes with an instant download “Mistress Magic”!
