PREMIERE | August 9, 2024: Lost Leaders releases the first single “Gone So Fast” from their upcoming album “Hungry Ghosts” which drops on September 13.
The full album is available for pre-order on vinyl and CD via their label Motherwest at this link:
“Gone So Fast” features Peter Cole on lead vocals, singing about the aftermath of a volatile relationship and dreaming of a future when jealousy and grief no longer dominate. It’s a song about skipping to the part when we feel good again. Isaacs and Cole seamlessly blend harmonies, the hallmark of the Lost Leaders sound. They play electric and acoustic guitar backed by drummer Lee Falco (Amos Lee) and keyboardist Will Bryant (Joan Osborne).
What sets “Gone So Fast” apart is its indie-rock roots married to the players’ modern Americana aesthetic, a blend of musical styles that has won them fans and radio play. For this new album, Isaacs took advantage of a break in The Lumineers‘ Brightside world tour to write and record with Cole on a personal album that showcases their lyrical wisdom and decades of musical mind-meld. “Hungry Ghosts” is set for release on September 13.
ABOUT: Lost Leaders is the duo of longtime friends Byron Isaacs and Peter Cole. The band was born during Byron’s time in the Levon Helm Band when Isaacs (Ollabelle) and Cole (Lava Baby) recorded their first album together in Levon Helm Studios. Levon Helm you say? Yes, that Levon Helm, the iconic drummer and vocalist of The Band who settled in Woodstock, NY, and who was an early cheerleader of Lost Leaders, had them open a Midnight Ramble before their first album was released. Isaacs, as anyone who follows the Lost Leaders Instagram knows, is flush with entertaining stories about his time with his mentor. His foil is smart-witted Cole, a gifted guitarist who loves hard rock and sarcastic lyrics and brings an appropriate edge to their storytelling and songwriting. Cole also mixed this new album, and the duo shared bareboned co-producing duties. Expect more songs on the new album about how “It’s better here, on the other side.”
