CALGARY, CANADA | JULY 22, 2022 – Indie-Artist Nadia Kazmi releases a hard-hitting 70’s rock-inspired single on Friday, July 22nd with “Have You Here”, her first single to drop before the upcoming full-length album in spring of 2023. A true indie rock anthem with her signature powerful vocals, Kazmi stands out as an icon of female empowerment within the music industry, cultivating a strong fan following in the music incubator neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn.
This indie anthem with its relentless driving beat is reminiscent of rock from the 70/80s with its raw electricity, however, it is Kazmi’s layered synth arrangements and vocals that give it a distinctive modern edge. Inspired by the nostalgia of her own youth but also the enduring power of first love that captures people’s hearts and minds, this song was made for long road trips and blasting on warm thundering nights when you remember the one that got away. The new single is a high-energy track about love, longing, and wanting, perfectly presented in a vintage rock production style that brings to mind powerful women of music such as Patti Smith, Sharon Van Etten, and Fiona Apple.
Nadia Kazmi adds:
“The inspiration was about first loves or people you still think about years later but it’s not really supposed to be a sad song, just nostalgic. I think everyone has a person or a couple of people they remember fondly or think “what if” about but in reality, those things were meant to fade away and leave you with memories that get better and better with time (a bit of selective memory) I imagine the days when groups of 40 friends would go up camping or on crazy road trips, everyone was falling in and out of love but some of those loves lasted longer.”
“The single was recorded in Nashville at WireBird Studios with Brett Ryan Stewart, Greg Carrillo on guitars, Chris Benelli on drums, and Parker Hawkins on bass. We later added synths from Luis Echeveria (also out of Nashville) which really brought the song to another level. When I got back to NYC, I recorded vocals at the Hit Factory with Aleksi Goddard and he really made them shine.” – Nadia Kazmi
