Narrated by Jaret Reddick, lead singer of Bowling For Soup and current voice of Chuck E. Cheese, the program follows the adventures of Smagoogly O’Goolibache, a young adventurer from the planet Loogy. Smagoogly (voiced by Eric Nally, singer of Foxy Shazam) is sent by his kooky explorer uncle to investigate an exciting and mysterious planet known as Earth for the magazine National Goolagraphic. Accompanied by his faithful camera Shoots (former MTV Europe VJ Joann Colan), the young voyager encounters an endless array of captivating creatures and intriguing traditions that teach him all about life on the blue planet, including music, food, sports, languages, and more, while making countless friends along the way.
Backing the musical members of the cast are an impressive roster of television veterans including Cory Cavin (former writer for The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon) and a crew whose credits include Sesame Street, Nickelodeon, the MLB Network, Cake Boss, and more. Additionally, Reddick voices Danny, the singer of fictional rock band Love Handel on Disney’s Phineas and Ferb, and was nominated for an Emmy for that show in 2008.
Originally conceived as the debut project of production company Korgoolin, The Shagoolies has already completed a ten-minute pilot episode produced by Factory Floor. The company was masterminded by Jesse Korman, who previously co-founded Piermont Management and Creative, and has worked with NatGeo,Cartoon Network, Discovery, and many more, as well as formerly fronting the bandThe Number 12 Looks Like You. The unique art direction was handled by Mat Franklin, singer/guitarist of Cadaver Dogs and an award-winning artist, while the episodes were co-written by Korman’s former band mate in TN12LLY, Mike Smagula. Once the trio founded Korgoolin in 2013, they compiled the eclectic Shagoolies crew, and the group are hoping to fund a six-episode season, as well as additional merchandising and digital content, via their current Kickstarter campaign.
