BOSTON | APRIL 14, 2023 Singer-Songwriter Jodi Heights releases the official music video for “The Iceberg” on Friday, April 14th just in time for Earth Day. The song addresses global warming with a dark twist: an instructor on an alien planet is teaching students about extinct species, and today’s subject is the human race.

The music video for “The Iceberg” is Jodi’s second project with cinematographer Noah Dickinson and was shot on location in Brooklyn, NY. This project involved a dance team and a full production team. Noah worked closely with choreographer Rachel Hettinger to symbolically capture the heavy-hitting concepts in the song’s lyrics, with powerful results. Jodi narrates with fierce determination dressed in a long-trained teal gown and playing a white grand piano, reminding the viewer of melting icecaps. Dancers whirl around her in grey, distracted by technology and money, oblivious to the looming danger.

“Rather than an argument for change, ‘The Iceberg’ explores what would happen if humans didn’t do anything to fix the damage they had caused to Earth. What if their story was already over? It was an absolute dream to work with a choreographer and dancers for the first time on this music video. Noah had such a beautiful vision for the project, and because he was producing, all I really had to do was pick my outfit, get my hair and makeup done, and show up. What a gift to have so many people lend their gifts to bring my song to life! I can’t wait to do it again.”

“The Iceberg” was part of Jodi’s second project with Plaid Dog Recording and her first project with engineer Cairo Marques-Neto. It was the first single from her 3-song EP, Triptych, a project focused on urgent concerns in our modern world: climate change, the pandemic, and the growing wealth gap.
