NEW YORK | SEPTEMBER 21, 2024: The indie-rock songwriter and artist Jennifer Silva releases her new album “Runaway” on all streaming platforms on Friday, September 27th. A distinctive blend of rock, soul, and country-Americana, this album marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Silva who will celebrate the release with a full backing band performance of the album on September 27th at The Bowery Electric in NYC. Her rootsy, soulful sound paired with images of animal spirits, nature, dreams, and trademark mystical folklore takes us on a joyride searching for answers and finding signs everywhere she goes. With her powerful vocals and storytelling songs, Silva will captivate fans who enjoy immersing themselves in her songs with narratives and metaphors. Inspired by a major life decision and the journey getting to where she is now Silva’s “Runaway” captures the essence of facing one’s fears and running toward the storm of life. After 25 years of living in New York City, Silva relocated with her family to the countryside of upstate New York. Uprooting and moving to the woods was very hard and lonely but she stayed focused and finally found her way…following the music and her intuition, as always. Inspired by nature and the wildlife around her, Silva’s newest album is a collection of 11 songs capturing that first emotional year of change.
Silva’s journey started with the tarot card reading of her life. A chance encounter with Madame Sonja, a Romanian fortune teller from a long line of intuitives, told her what she already knew but was afraid to say. This incredible reading set her on a path out of the city she loves and into the woods of the Catskill Mountains with her family. Powerful, emotional interactions with wild animals – (Run with the Deer, Damselfly) – further solidified her conviction that she needed to make this huge change. Leaving the past behind (Rearview Mirror, Runaway, The Devil That You Know) was hard and lonely at times but ultimately, Silva experienced a newfound peace within (Run with the Deer, Wildflowers) on her quest for the perfect place for her family to settle down. Now she finds herself excited about, and anticipating, what’s next and is taking the time she needs to find her way (Hold the Rain, Valhalla). Through it all, music, family and close friends have remained her steadfast companions on this journey of a lifetime.
”I’ve been searching for a sign, open to the Universe, Divine”. (Madame Sonja)
”They say, the devil that you know is better than the devil that you don’t know, but I don’t know anything anymore”. (The Devil That You Know)
”Weeds grow all around. They’re choking me, choking me, choking me, without a sound”. (Wildflowers)
“Take me to Valhalla. I heard it’s ecstasy, I heard it’s bliss. I heard it’s a fantasy, I need that sweetest kiss”. (Valhalla)
“But I really want to know, how far does the buffalo roam, before it finds its way home”. (Runaway).
Silva’s style, vocal strength, and lyrical prowess remind us of soulful vocalists like Grace Potter and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, as well as powerhouse singers like Maggie Rose and Rachel Price of Lake Street Dive. Silva’s storytelling is a testament to her Alt-Country influences like Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, and Margo Price. Legacy artists that she looks to as major music influences include Stevie Nicks, Tori Amos, and The Rolling Stones.
This Country-Soul and Indie-Rock album was written by Jennifer Silva and produced by Bassist Errick Lewis of XVibe Records. Silva’s signature vocals, storytelling lyrics, and guitarist Jeff Berman’s expressive and soulful rock guitar riffs get us moving and leave us wanting to run away with her.
