NEW YORK | MAY 7th, 2021 – Indie Pop artist Emmrose releases an anthem for college-bound students like herself who were “Waitlisted” today and premiered yesterday via Wolf In A Suit. After releasing such songs as “Tonight”, “The Grass Was Greener” and “It Takes Me Back” which gained over 700k streams in 2020, participating in numerous writing collaborations, sync licensing briefs, contracts, podcasts, and reviews… she found herself on the college waitlist. So what did she do? She wrote “Waitlisted” as an Indie-Pop anthem for those who have found themselves in a similar circumstance.

From Emmrose: “In all honesty, “Waitlisted” was a really painful song for me to write, work on, and listen to. In March I would find out whether or not I got into my dream school… The Clive Davis School of Recorded Music at NYU, the program for songwriters, and I honestly thought I was a shoe in for. Long story short- I got waitlisted. It hurt me on a deep level because of the fact it was all about my music and my talent. I guess I wasn’t good enough to get in. Right? Who knows. Writing an upbeat song was a fun contrast to an overall pretty sad song for me lyrically. I wanted it to be an anthem for those who’ve been in a similar situation; that you can find some kind of dark celebration in getting rejected.”

“Waitlisted” was recorded at Behind the Curtains Media in Brooklyn, New York with collaborator and producer, Mike Abiuso. The track is composed of analog synths, funky electric guitars and bass performances which all supporting Emmrose’s soaring vocal perfomance. While paying ode to retro vibes of 70’s and 80’s disco akin to the sounds of Niles Rogers and Dua Lipa, the track also blends modern production techniques bringing the track to the forefront of 2021. Emmrose and Mike have been collaborating since she was 15-years old.

ABOUT:

Emmrose is an indie-pop artist born and raised in New York City attending LaGuardia Arts High School, a.k.a the “Fame” school. At 14 years old she began songwriting while bored in school to later find herself performing in NYC clubs on the weekends, and now at age 17 she has found worldwide fans and supporters most notably with her weekly live stream shows, and her song “Tonight” that to date has exceeded 350k streams on Spotify. Not afraid to show her true self to her followers, the songs she writes are a personal and shameless invitation into her soul, her very core. Her lyrics are personal poetry written out as stories of her life, and her music so introspective and intense that it brings you into the dream world of her loves, her anxieties, and the personalities that have inspired her. Emmrose began releasing music in 2018 with her first singles “Westchester” and “Dangerous Eyes”, a song she had written while in eighth-grade math class. The single“Tonight” was released in November of 2019, followed by her first EP Hopeless Romantics released in March of 2020. Her EP won Best Pop Album by the W.A.M. awards in 2020, and The Grass Was Greener, released in May of 2020, was placed on two Spotify editorial playlists.

“If you’re a Lana Del Rey fan and you’re sitting around desperately waiting for a new album and just want to sink your teeth into some stellar music that has the ability to transport you away to a whole new world with just an enchanting vocal and nostalgic sound then Emmrose is the artist for you. The 16-year-old, yes your read that right, has a timeless sound to her music that feels like it could’ve come straight out of Woodstock, and the mystical air her music has around it only helps add to this further.”

Ear to the Ground Magazine, July 7th 2020, “Emmrose – “The Grass Was Greener”

“If we were better writers, we might be able to describe the music of Emmrose with the beauty it deserves. Though, we do suspect that her talent and overall lovely songwriting is beyond adequate description. The young artist is already an indie veteran after starting in her teenage years. She cut her teeth in NYC clubs, and has crafted a well-textured and transcendent sound that will resonate with fans of greats like Angel Olsen and Phoebe Bridgers.”
