LISTEN TO “REQUIEM FOR SCHRÖDINGER’S CAT”
NEW YORK | JUNE 23, 2023: Artist/Performer/Songwriter Goodman releases “Requiem for Schrödinger’s Cat” on Friday, June 23rd to all streaming platforms. Genre-hopping across the gamut of timeless rock and pop sounds, “Requiem for Schrödinger’s Cat”, is a shimmering pastiche of shoegaze, early rock and roll, surf backbeats, post-punk gloom, and contemplative indie folk.
Perfectly suited for playlisting, it is the kind of song that you can sink into with its melting, psychedelic production, catchy chorus, and perfectly styled vocals. Giving vibes of Vampire Weekend and Cigarettes After Sex, Goodman is a shining example of an artist who creates original, captivating music with wide commercial potential.
When asked what exactly is “Schrödinger’s Cat”, Goodman explains, it is a “thought experiment”, a popular quantum theory that popped into his head while he wrote the chorus of the song. In the theory, until you open the box to see, the cat is not alive, and at the same time, it is not dead. And just as Erwin Schrödinger’s hypothetical cat is simultaneously alive and dead inside their opaque booby-trapped box, so too is a romantic relationship with a complete communication breakdown. “Requiem for Schrödinger’s Cat” seeks to explore the liminal space of heartbreak and closure when two lovers go without contact.
About: Though youthful in countenance, Goodman has lived many musical lives. As a prolific songwriter, Goodman has released 6 full-length albums and a handful of EPs since 2012 and has no intention to slow down. As a touring musician in multiple bands, Goodman has shared the stage with Temples, Allah-Las, the Horrors, TOY, Gary Numan, Elle King, and even esteemed character actor Michael Shannon, among many others. Goodman is also a regular performer alongside The Loser’s Lounge, a bimonthly music revue at the Public Theater.
