LISTEN TO “QUEENS” ON SPOTIFY
NASHVILLE | October 27, 2023: Although singer-songwriter Luke Boor now resides in Nashville, Tennessee, his newest single “Queens” is about a victim of lost love riding public transit in The Big Apple. This is an indie-rock gem, with hooks and expertly written lyrics that are relatable to all of us. “Queens” is beautifully produced, with “western frontier” style guitars reminding you that you are always on an unknown journey, echos of drums that quietly suggest the sounds of the NYC subway tracks and one of the best male vocalists for the indie rock genre.
With “Queens”, we travel with Luke as he laments his being turned away by love,
And now you’re crying
Somewhere in Queens
And where is she
A coast away
Manhattan Beach

“When I wrote the song I had just moved to New York and landed a job as a hotel doorman in The Financial District…at the time, life seemed epic, larger than life, just like my new home. Naturally, New York showed up in my songwriting.”
Luke Boor
Boor brought a stripped-down, acoustic version of “Queens” to producer Mike Abiuso at Behind The Curtains Media in Brooklyn, and the song came together quickly.
“Mike was bringing the tune to life with instruments completely new to me: Wurlitzers, castanets…it all just added to the momentum and excitement I was feeling.”

A story we hear too often, with the arrival of Covid-19 momentum came to a screeching halt. Boor lost his job and was forced to adjust to a new way of life, struggling with his mental health, putting music on the back burner, and “Queens” was never released.
“A dark time, for sure, but humanity managed to clear that hurdle, and now that things are better for me, for everybody, hopefully, it makes sense to return to music, to return to a song that’s always been special.”
