NEW YORK | MARCH 13, 2021 – The new single by Emmrose, a 17-year-old Indie Pop artist from New York City, strikes a chord yet again with another beautiful and highly relatable single called The Imposter premiered by Neon Magazine. Imposter Syndrome is a mental health phenomenon that has at one time crossed everyone’s mind lately and a very relatable subject that Emmrose expresses with her own inner anxieties regarding her own personal experience.

Emmrose further explains: “The Imposter was in a small way inspired by the video game “Among Us” funny enough. In order to win the game, you need to find the Imposter, a secret member of the group that is trying to stay hidden while getting other players out of the game. This made me think a lot about “Imposter Syndrome” and how you think everyone will eventually find out that you are a fraud. The lyrics start with how to find “The Imposter”, how they’re all around you but they’ll say they had to pretend to fit in. One of my favorite ways to describe Imposter Syndrome is in the line, “She tried to run, but thinking you’re the best is kinda fun”, as I have experienced the feeling of being chosen as the best out of a group of people, and for a few minutes it feels great, and then the doubt seeps in and you develop a fear of being discovered as not worthy.

Personally, I’ve felt enormous doubt as a singer and a songwriter. The anxiety that I’m not good enough and that everything I write and sing is horrible are thoughts that often go through my head. This song is in dedication to the part of me that feels like an imposter, and that it’s not the way I want to live. I hope this song can help people that also struggle with their self-worth, as well as finding ways to cope with their anxiety through the support of friends and family.”

Mike Abiuso, producer of The Imposter remarks, “When described, “The Imposter” may come off as dark, but there’s a lot of positivity to the term in addition to the song, so it was a nice change of pace crafting a soft and light instrumentation to pair with and cradle Emmrose’s vocals and the content of her lyrics. I really love the way the song naturally unfolds and dynamically heightens with each part and each layer until it tapers off at the bridge to conclude with a very soft intimate reveal of the narrator being the imposter and in the same realm as everyone else.”

ABOUT EMMROSE: Emmrose is an indie-pop artist born and raised in New York City attending LaGuardia Arts High School, a.k.a the “Fame” school. At 14 years old she began songwriting while bored in school to later find herself performing in NYC clubs on the weekends, and now at age 17 she has found worldwide fans and supporters most notably with her weekly live stream shows, and her song “Tonight” that to date has exceeded 300,000 streams on Spotify. Not afraid to show her true self to her followers, the songs she writes are a personal and shameless invitation into her soul, her very core. Her lyrics are personal poetry written out as stories of her life, and her music so introspective and intense that it brings you into the dream world of her loves, her anxieties, and the personalities that have inspired her.

During the summer of 2020 her single The Grass Was Greener was highlighted by Spotify editors and placed on the Fresh Finds and Omnia playlists, reaching 80k monthly listeners in July, 2020. Emmrose began releasing music in 2018 with her first singles “Westchester”, “Dangerous Eyes”, a song she had written while in eighth grade math class. The single“Tonight” was released in November of 2019, followed by her first EP Hopeless Romantics released in March of 2020. Her EP won Best Pop Album by the W.A.M. awards in 2020.

WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING:

Ear to the Ground Magazine, July 7th 2020, “Emmrose – “The Grass Was Greener” “If we were better writers, we might be able to describe the music of Emmrose with the beauty it deserves. Though, we do suspect that her talent and overall lovely songwriting is beyond adequate description. The young artist is already an indie veteran after starting in her teenage years. She cut her teeth in NYC clubs, and has crafted a well textured and transcendent sound that will resonate with fans of greats like Angel Olsen and Phoebe Bridgers. Her latest single is an introspective look for a better time, and given our current situation, it is both comforting and resounding.”

When the Horn Blows, June 30th, 2020, “Emmrose – “The Grass Was Greener” “If you’re a Lana Del Rey fan and you’re sitting around desperately waiting for a new album and just want to sink your teeth into some stellar music that has the ability to transport you away to a whole new world with just an enchanting vocal and nostalgic sound then Emmrose is the artist for you. The 16-year-old, yes your read that right, has a timeless sound to her music that feels like it could’ve come straight out of Woodstock, and the mystical air her music has around it only helps add to this further.”
