Emmrose and Richard Orofino Team Up Again for Another Indie Hit Out March 22
Emmrose returns with new music to release all spring and summer of 2024
New York City | March 22, 2024 — Emmrose, the dynamic 20-year-old indie artist, is back with her latest offering, “Tattoo,” set to be released on March 22, 2024. Following the success of her previous hit “Electric Nights,” which earned a coveted spot on Spotify’s editorial playlist Fresh Finds Indie, Emmrose is poised to captivate audiences once again with her poetic lyricism, distinctive soundscape, and expertly crafted vocals. With its acoustic guitar intro with soft vocals, “Tattoo” gradually builds into an indie rock song with full vocals and layered electric guitar. It also may be her best and most relatable single yet.
Co-written and produced by the acclaimed artist Richard Orofino, whose name has been rapidly rising in the indie genre, “Tattoo” promises to be a major addition to Emmrose’s discography. Orofino’s collaborative efforts with Emmrose have proven to be a winning formula, this being their fourth release together.
Inspired by the raw emotions of a friend’s tumultuous breakup, “Tattoo” delves into the complexities of love and heartache. Emmrose channels her personal experiences into poignant lyrics, exploring themes of longing and codependency with profound honesty and vulnerability. The song’s genesis, rooted in a deeply emotional moment shared with her friend, imbues it with an authenticity that resonates with listeners with a relatable subject hard to capture in words.
Reflecting on the creative process and production behind “Tattoo,” Emmrose expresses her admiration for Orofino’s collaborative approach:
“It was important to me to incorporate changing dynamics with a pretty intense build— and I’m so happy with how it turned out! I had such a great time working on the synth parts and tracking my vocals. It was so sick to layer all these doubles and harmonies together— especially with the super low harmony on the chorus. We finished the entire song in one and a half sessions, and it was so wild to happen so fast. Richard and I have a great songwriting and producing dynamic. He lets me run free with crafting lyrics and the melody, and we have the same inspirations for the overall sound of everything we create.”

“The inspiration for the lyrics came from a friend who was going through a tough breakup, just overall feeling devastated how their ex was still relying on them emotionally but wouldn’t commit, and was seeing other girls. It’s hard when you’re so close to someone for so long, especially with a first love, and they take advantage of that and use you. I wanted to express that yearning and those feelings of codependency when you love someone so much, but they don’t feel the same anymore. I remember playing this song for her after Richard and I worked on the demo, and she just burst into tears.”

The song, mixed and mastered by producer Mike Abiuso, serves as a testament to Emmrose’s evolution as an artist. Abiuso, who has been instrumental in shaping Emmrose’s dream-pop indie sound since she was just 15 years old, continues to play a pivotal role in her musical journey, contributing to the creation of her distinctive sonic identity. Emmrose’s upcoming release is just a glimpse of what’s to come, with plans for a new series of singles by Abiuso and Orofino, and a full album slated for the end of summer 2024. As she continues to push the boundaries of indie music, Emmrose reaffirms her status as a rising star to watch in the music industry.
“Tattoo” will be available on all major streaming platforms on March 22, 2024. For more information, visit Emmrose’s official website and follow her on social media for the latest updates.
