Listen to “17 Inside” by Emmrose with this link:
NEW YORK, NY | March 3rd, 2023 Indie Artist Emmrose releases her new Indie-Pop single “17 Inside”, off of the forthcoming full-length album “Thorns”; an album of wistful songs seeking forgiveness, letting go, and moving forward. Simply put, Emmrose spent the year being a seventeen-year-old inside her bedroom in Manhattan. She never had the chance to see friends in person; conversations suddenly ended, and relationships were put on hold.
“I feel that I never really finished high school because I was in Zoom-school all year. I felt that I grew as a person but didn’t get to show that to anyone. It was very frustrating for no one to see that. I was still upset with how everything happened with a particular friendship, and that I never had a chance to really talk one on one about how I felt. I don’t like holding grudges and I don’t want to have people thinking poorly about me. I was hoping to apologize, but New York shut down.” – Emm
Emmrose tends to write a song about a subject to get it off her mind, developing it in her head before she actually sits down to write it. “17 Inside” was originally written on piano, and her producer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Abiuso created the soundscape of layered vocals and guitars by taking inspiration from an album that Emmrose had been listening to on repeat, Taylor Swift’s own pandemic album “Folklore”.
“17 Inside” was recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced by Mike Abiuso at Behind the Curtains Media. Emmrose has been collaborating and writing music with producer Mike Abiuso since age 14. Together they have released 21 singles and one album, Hopeless Romantics, which was awarded best pop album by WAM Awards in 2020.
ABOUT: Emmrose, 19, is a native New Yorker, Groover Obsessions Artist , and signed to Secret Road Music for sync licensing. She records her music exclusively with Mike Abiuso at Behind the Curtains Media in Brooklyn, NY.
Her debut EP Hopeless Romantics was released one week before New York City entered the covid lockdown of 2020, and with all of her shows cancelled, she decided to perform weekly live streams from her home where she connected with thousands of kids in the world who took refuge with her music. Two years later, she has released 18 singles and her Album Hopeless Romantics won Best Pop Album in the 2020 WAM Awards. In May of 2020 her single “The Grass Was Greener” was placed on two Spotify Editorial playlists, a surprising event due to the fact that the entire recording and production had been done remotely during the COVID lockdown in NYC, with Emmrose in her Manhattan bedroom and her producer Mike Abiuso working in his Brooklyn apartment. The song “Five Months” is sync’d to the opening scene of the indie film “Searching for the Wave” and the single “Waitlisted” aired on MTV’s Teen Mom in November of 2021.
WHAT THE PRESS SAYS:
Tongue Tied Magazine June 12, 2022: Single Review for “The Gallows”
“Surrendering to the haunts of old loves, Emmrose’s blissful vocals lay her pain out for all to hear. “The Gallows” is expertly produced to create haunting layering of lead and backing vocals, seeming as though Emmrose is actually trapped inside the echoed halls of a real gallows. The track is supported by synth, autoharp, bass, acoustic guitar and drums, supplying simple yet interesting sonic shifts that still leave Emmrose’s vocals at center stage. At just 18, Emmrose is showing herself as a new star within the sad and thoughtful indie-pop that we all love.”
Music for the Misfits Premiere of “The Gallows”
“She is a special one, an ever-growing artist with layers of talent and an interesting story to tell. The latest from her hand is called ‘The Gallows’ and will be out for all to hear tomorrow. However, if you are one of the lucky ones reading this right now, you can listen to Emmrose’s new single ahead of its release!”
