NEW YORK, NY | Aug. 4, 2023 Indie Artist Emmrose releases her new Indie-Pop single “Electric Nights”, co-written and produced by fellow Brooklyn indie pop artist Richard Orofino. Emmrose and Orofino met in 2020 when they were paired together as songwriters by the music label Secret Road where they wrote the past Emmrose releases “Afterlife” and“Ragdoll”, and the two have been collaborating on music ever since. Written by Emmrose and Orofino in one afternoon session, the writers were inspired by dreamy synths, guitars, drums dripping in heavy reverb from classic 80’s pop music as well as the bands Beach House and Cigarettes After Sex. The cinematic lyrics were inspired by Emmrose imagining a scene of a John Hughes style movie where the lead character is rejected by the most popular girl at school, only to end up going to prom by himself. ‘Electric Nights’ was mixed and mastered by Mike Abiuso at Behind the Curtains Media, with whom Emmrose has recorded and released twenty singles and one full album. The next full length album “Thorns” is slated for release on August 22nd, which will include four additional new songs.
Emmrose adds:
“My own idea for a 1980’s era John Hughes movie inspired the lyrics of the song. A guy has a huge crush on a cheerleader (who was dating the football captain, of course) and he asks her to go to prom with him, and, surprise-surprise; she says no. I wrote the lyrics as if we were watching a slow dance where you didn’t have anyone to dance with, and you were rejected by the person you liked.”
ABOUT: Emmrose, 19, is a native New Yorker, Groover Obsessions Artist , and signed to Secret Road Music for sync licensing. Her debut EP Hopeless Romantics was released one week before New York City entered the covid lockdown of 2020, and with all of her shows cancelled, she decided to perform weekly live streams from her home where she connected with thousands of kids in the world who took refuge with her music. Two years later, she has released 20 singles and her Album Hopeless Romantics won Best Pop Album in the 2020 WAM Awards. In May of 2020 her single “The Grass Was Greener” was placed on two Spotify Editorial playlists, a surprising event due to the fact that the entire recording and production had been done remotely during the COVID lockdown in NYC, with Emmrose in her Manhattan bedroom and her producer Mike Abiuso working in his Brooklyn apartment. The song “Five Months” is sync’d to the opening scene of the indie film “Searching for the Wave” and the single “Waitlisted” aired on MTV’s Teen Mom in November of 2021.
