Alternative indie-rock is blended with ambient pop and jazz elements, for an emotional ride

NEW YORK CITY | SEPTEMBER 28, 2018 – For anyone who has ever struggled with a personal relationship, this song will speak to you. NYC alternative indie-rock/pop outfit Air For Ants present “Did You Know You’re Gold“, the first single off their upcoming album Once Again With Feeling. The track premiered on Floated Magazine, and presents the enthralling enrapture of falling in love, and sense of loss when it is unrequited and lost. As an emotional journey and cathartic release, Air For Ants takes listeners on a journey that leaves them craving just a little bit more.

Blending alternative indie-rock, with elements of jazz, and experimental pop, the band provides a sensational exploration of sounds and layers. Vocalist Dominic Sahagun shared how the track was recorded in a variety of locations; “Did You Know You’re Gold was predominantly recorded at The Institute of Audio Research in Union Square, New York City. But additional guitars were recorded in my living room, and the vocals were actually recorded in four different places on two different microphones – New York, Houston, Las Vegas, and Wellfleet (MA).”

As for its inspiration, Sahagun simply shares “The song is about a personal relationship.” A closer listen of lyrics reveal the short journey of a relationship – from love to heartbreak. Layering vocal harmonies tell the beginning of the tale – “when I look into your eyes I see the stars and planets too, all the other galaxies and aliens in you, and your soul… did you know you’re gold.” It shifts to a heavier take mid-song, with full-band kicking in as Sahagun sings on the realization of the relationship slipping. Lyrically and musically, the track crests and leaves the listener feeling the same emotions of longing, desire, and bittersweet unrequited love.

“Did You Know You’re Gold” is the first single off Air For Ants upcoming third album Once Again With Feeling, scheduled for release on October 26, 2018. The track is available for stream and purchase on all digital platforms today, including Spotify, Bandcamp, and Apple Music. The band performs in the New York City region on a regular basis.
